Step inside the Distillery Tour

Men in DistilleryFrom mashing in to filling a barrel, every step of the process can be seen and experienced on this exclusive tour. Step inside Launceston Distillery, where everything from brewing to bottling takes place under the roof of the historic Hangar 17.

We’ve managed to persuade Chris to grant access to the most hidden parts of the distilling process. Almost nothing is off-limits.

The day begins at 9 am sharp with an important safety briefing. Then, along with just nine other guests, you’ll embark on your ‘day in our distillery’.

You will be guided through each step of the process in fine detail, gaining a true understanding of the art of handmade small-batch distilling.

Discover the Distilling Process

  1. Mash In Experience
The day will start with the mash in, where you will be up close with our team as they begin the process. This hands-on experience is considered by many to be the most exciting part of the day at the distillery, but we’ll let you be the judge.
  1. Explore Hangar 17
From there, we’ll explore the unique location we call home – Hangar 17. During this time, you’ll have the opportunity to get to know the man behind our wonderful whisky with a Q&A session with Chris himself. He’ll be ready to answer all your questions.
  1. New Make Tasting
One of the most requested things we hear is, “Can we try the new make?” Well, in this case – yes, you can! Not only will you be able to taste it, but you will also see the final cut and sample it directly from our spirit still.
  1. Whisky Tasting
Of course, we haven’t forgotten your chance to taste our wonderful whisky. A tasting, including our special Tas Whisky Week release, will be on offer. This will be an extra special bottling that no one will want to miss.
  1. Barrel Filling
But your morning isn’t over yet. How about finishing it with filling a barrel? You will witness the filling of a very special barrel and have the first opportunity to purchase a bottle from it when it’s ready for bottling.
