Purchase a Cask
Own your very own cask of whisky
In 2015 and 2016 we gave whisky lovers the opportunity to purchase their very own small 20 L cask of whisky from Launceston Distillery. The owners of these casks are now waiting patiently for their casks to mature, with the first casks expected to be bottled in 2018.
In 2017, we will again be filling a limited number of small 20 L bourbon, port or apera (sherry) casks with new make spirit from our distinctive stills. The casks will be matured in our bond store for about two to three years, before bottling on site. We are offering whisky lovers the opportunity to purchase one of these small casks, which will yield a minimum of 42 x 500 mL bottles at 45% alcohol. Alternatively, you may purchase part of a Distillery cask, which is 18 x 500 mL bottles.
As well as choosing the cask, you can chose the alcohol strength your cask is bottled at. If you would like to use your own bottle or label, then we will work with you to produce your own distinctive whisky.
The price of our casks is based upon an all-inclusive price of $90 for a 500 mL bottle at 45% alcohol. This price covers all costs including the whisky, bottling and excise, so there are no additional costs to pay.
The casks can be purchased with a single payment of $3,780 for a full cask (42 bottles), or $1,620 for a part cask (18 bottles). Alternatively, you can purchase the whisky in a full cask now for an initial payment of $2,550 and pay for bottling and excise when the cask is ready to be bottled.
As a cask owner, you will receive an invitation to meet with our Distiller and participate in the filling of your cask, along with the opportunity to visit your cask at the Distillery as it matures. Cask owners will also be offered first opportunity to attend Distillery events and purchase special releases.
You can swap up to 12 bottles at collection with other styles of whisky from our stock, to enable you to experience our different whiskies.
The 2017 offer will close at the end of the year. If you would like to participate in the offer, please contact us for more information and application form.
